APPOINTMENTS, SCHEDULING, PAYMENTS
How do I book an appointment?
To book an appointment, contact me for a chat either by phone - 07445 779773 - by messaging me on Facebook or an email to Charlotte@Cleverclix.co.uk or by completing the contact form on the website.
I’ve made an appointment - what happens now?
I’ll acknowledge your appointment and ask you to complete and sign our Terms & Conditions and matted dog policy. When you arrive, we will complete a client record card, stating any health issues, breed and coat information as well as the required style. I’ll discuss with you your requirements and check over your dog before I commence the groom. This way I can let you know if the coat is matted and if your dog is going to require a short clip to get rid of them.
What method is best to contact you?
Because I am often busy with dogs, please do not worry if my phone goes to voicemail - it is important that my attention is kept on the dog I am working with, so I will return your call as soon as I can.
It is often easier to contact me by messaging me, either by text or through my Facebook page. Alternatively please do email me or complete the contact form here.
How often should my dog be groomed?
This varies according to your dog’s breed, but in general most dogs should come every 6 weeks. This is particularly important for those dogs with curly, ‘wool’ type coats such as Poodles and Bichons. I offer wash and brush out sessions between clips to prevent matting and to help those owners who wish to keep a longer coat.
Other breeds requiring clipping really should come as a minimum every 8 weeks; however, I will be able to provide a better guide for you once I have seen your dog, examined their coat and discussed with you what your style preferences are.
How much will it cost?
This is a little bit like asking how long is a piece of string as each dog is different, however for a rough guide please look at my price list and contact me for more information.
I want to change or cancel my appointment
Things happen and sometimes clients need to change things, and we understand that. However we do ask for 24 hours notice (48 hours for 3 or more dogs) otherwise the full groom cost will be payable. In the event that your appointment can be given to someone on the waiting list, this cost will be waived.
What if I’m unhappy with my dog’s groom?
Firstly, please do say something at the time - there may be time to alter it such as taking legs shorter or adjusting the face, especially if it is your dog’s first groom. It takes time for a new groomer to get a cut just as you like it and after a couple of appointments clients usually say ‘do the normal’.
However if you are unhappy, please let us know within 48 hours so that we can make changes for you as we do our best to ensure our clients are happy. We are unable to adjust the clip if more time has elapsed as the coat grows, the dog may have got matted and so on.
How long will it take?
The first groom usually takes the longest as I am getting to know your dog, seeing what he or she is like with grooming and getting the style right. Usually, this will be around 2 and a half hours. Thereafter, assuming that your dog is booked in every 6-8 weeks, the groom will usually take around half an hour less. These estimates are all just that, however, as some dogs may need more or less time, and matted coats take significant effort again.
Will I get a discount for 2 or more dogs?
Each dog does require their own individual appointment so there is not the potential for huge discounts, but usually there is a £5 discount to take into account the reduction in travel.
Why can you not give me a fixed price over the phone?
Each dog is individual and although there are general estimates for sizes of dog, this then has to be evaluated by looking at the dog, the condition of the coat and their temperament. If a dog is very matted or difficult, there is an uplift to take into account additional time. For a guideline, please check out my prices page.
Do you charge a ‘no show’ fee?
Yes I do - should you not give 24 hours notice (48 hours for 3 or more dogs) then the full price of the groom will be charged so please do give us notice.
Do you accept credit card payment?
Currently I can only accept cash or bank transfer, but do keep in touch as I may get a credit card terminal in the future.
Should I walk him before his appointment?
Some owners try to be kind to the groomer by avoiding walking them prior to the appointment, but there’s no need. Since your dog is going to be bathed anyway, its more important to allow him time to pee and poo and have a little run than to avoid getting him a little dirty. Obviously try not to walk him in really muddy places, but a nice run means the dog is less full of energy and isn’t on the grooming table desperate for a poo!
What size of dogs will you groom?
As I am a solo groomer, I can only accept dogs up to medium size eg springer spaniel or labrador. I cannot take extremely heavy dogs purely because it is difficult to lift them and manage them on the table, not because larger dogs are more difficult to groom. Please call me to discuss.
Does my dog require up to date vaccinations?
Yes, your dog must be either up to date with vaccinations or titre tested as I have many dogs in the salon and obviously need to be diligent with any cross contamination risk.
